Croston Together began life as Croston Flood Relief, which was established following the devastating floods on Boxing Day 2015.
Having raised over £120,000 and then distributed it to flood victims, the charity trustees decided to continue their support of the village. The floods had generated a great sense of community spirit and the trustees decided that they would continue working together to support Croston as a vibrant, supportive and diverse village.
Croston Together aims to raise money, for the purpose of supporting individuals, groups and organisations who are seeking to develop projects which will enhance the quality of life in the village. Our fund-raising events help support our vision . We also rely on donations from benefactors and other organisations, who see the value of what we are trying to achieve.
Our mission is not so much to run organisations but to support them through grants and, where appropriate, by providing advice and encouragement.
We have 8 hard-working trustees, who meet every 2 or 3 weeks. The charity is registered with the Charity Commission. We have an independent auditor who attends all meetings, ensures that our meetings are conducted properly and that our finances are properly managed.
Croston is a great place to live and our aim is to support individuals and groups who are seeking to make it even better. We have compiled the Croston Charter which sums up our aims. This has been printed on to a large board which can often be seen at village events and on the village green.
